Training and Higher Education

Hereford already offers excellent further education facilities, however the Council has an ambition to add a further dimension to the existing offer by encouraging new Higher Education (HE) provision, to support the growth of the City.

HE provision has a significant role to play as part of ‘joined up’ regeneration, and more specifically the creation of the Enterprise Zone has created interest from potential  HE partners, which could generate a mutually beneficial circle between employment and the graduate workforce as students are becoming more likely to stay and work in the area where they study. There is also the additional benefit in being able to ‘upskill’ and/or ‘reskill’ the current and future workforce through sandwich courses and foundation degrees.

Working in partnership with the EZ Board and the Council, Hereford Futures will help to identify potential partner HE providers and co-ordinate negotiations over suitable accommodation.
