Herefordshire TV: An opportunity not to be missed!
Anyone interested in learning more about how Herefordshire TV might work is invited to join the Herefordshire Media Network (HMN) at the Barrels pub in Hereford on Tuesday 26th June at 6pm.
After a successful initial stakeholders’ meeting opened by Jesse Norman MP at the Courtyard Arts Centre on 11th May which saw guest speakers Neil Kerr, Chair of Herefordshire Business Board, Cllr Graham Powell and Debra Davis, Chief Executive of City TV Birmingham, all describing the benefits that a local TV station could bring to the county, it was decided that there was a sufficient level of interest to push ahead with the proposal.
Ian Morgan, HMN Chairman, said: "I'm very pleased to announce that the Herefordshire Media Network has been given the opportunity to become associated with this exciting development and the initial stages that could forge the creation of Herefordshire TV.
“Our aim is to inform and inspire our members and encourage fellow media creative, PR and marketing professionals in the County to come along to this event. This is an opportunity not to be missed!"
The event will feature guest speakers including Ian White, a local TV director currently working on Emmerdale and Eastenders, and producer/director Mike Jackson who headed up the BBC Local TV Pilot in Herefordshire in 2006. Ian and Mike will draw upon their television broadcast careers to offer vital insight to the proposal to create a TV channel for Herefordshire.
Nic Millington, Rural Media’s CEO, said: “The only way in which Herefordshire TV will work is if public, private, voluntary and community sectors work together. If anyone is interested to learn more and would like to contribute their ideas then please do come along.”
